What is pro bono mediation?
In pro bono mediation, the government pays an accredited mediator to help you with a conflict. In this case, you will pay nothing or less. We also call this 'free legal aid'. These usually involve family disputes, such as separations or disagreements about childcare arrangements. It may also involve issues at work, housing problems, or disputes over inheritance.
Am I eligible?
Not everyone can receive assistance free of charge. People with a low income or no income can often make use of pro bono mediation. Your eligibility will be assessed by the Legal Aid Office or a judge. The current income limits can be found in our brochure.
